2. Open-Source Library (Local Use)
When you use the HumanVAD Python library locally:
- All audio processing occurs on your own hardware
- No audio data is transmitted to our servers
- No telemetry, analytics, or usage data is collected
- We have no access to your audio files or processing results
- You are solely responsible for compliance with applicable privacy laws regarding the audio you process
3. Hosted API Service
3.1 Audio Data Handling
When you use the hosted API at zedigital-humanvad.fly.dev:
- Audio files are uploaded to our servers for processing
- Audio files are processed in memory and are not stored permanently
- Audio files are deleted immediately after processing is complete
- Processing results (detection metadata) may be temporarily logged for debugging purposes and are deleted within 24 hours
- We do not listen to, transcribe, or review the content of audio files
- We do not use your audio data to train or improve models
3.2 Request Metadata
For each API request, we may log:
- Timestamp of the request
- IP address (for rate limiting and abuse prevention)
- Request size and processing duration
- HTTP headers (user agent, content type)
Request metadata is retained for up to 30 days for operational purposes and is not shared with third parties.
4. Website
4.1 Web Demo (Browser-Based)
The browser-based demo on our website:
- Requests microphone access through your browser's permission system
- Audio is captured locally in your browser
- If the API is available, recorded audio may be sent to our hosted API for server-side analysis (same handling as Section 3)
- If the API is unavailable, all processing occurs locally in your browser
- No audio is stored after your browser session ends
4.2 Website Analytics
We do not use third-party analytics services. We do not track visitors, use cookies for advertising, or collect personal information through the website beyond what is described in this policy.
5. Sponsorship and Payment
When you make a payment or sponsorship:
- Payments through PayPal are subject to PayPal's Privacy Policy
- Bank transfers are processed by your banking institution
- Cryptocurrency transactions are recorded on their respective blockchains
- We may retain your name and email for sponsor acknowledgment purposes (e.g., listing on README or website), with your consent
6. Data Security
We implement reasonable security measures to protect data during API transmission and processing:
- All API communication uses HTTPS (TLS encryption in transit)
- Audio data is processed in isolated containers
- Server infrastructure is hosted on Fly.io with standard security practices
- No audio data is written to persistent storage
7. Data Retention
- Audio files: Deleted immediately after processing (not stored)
- API request logs: Retained for up to 30 days
- Sponsor information: Retained for the duration of the sponsorship
8. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Request information about data we hold about you
- Request deletion of any data we hold about you
- Object to processing of your data
- Withdraw consent for data processing

Our Service is not directed to individuals under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
10. International Data Transfers
The hosted API runs on Fly.io infrastructure. Audio data may be processed in regions where Fly.io operates servers. By using the API, you consent to this processing.

Our infrastructure uses the following third-party services:
- Fly.io -- API hosting infrastructure
- GitHub -- Source code hosting and GitHub Pages website hosting
- Google Fonts -- Font delivery (subject to Google's Privacy Policy)
